“Flavors Under the Big Sky: Celebrating the Bounty of the Region” is a monthly radio show on Yellowstone Public Radio that brings the rich food culture of Montana and the surrounding region to life. Hosted by Stella Fong, the program features engaging interviews with the people who make our local food scene so vibrant. From chefs and bakers to farmers, ranchers, winemakers, and distillers, each episode explores the stories behind the people who shape the flavors of our region.
Flavors Under the Big Sky received the 2025 and 2022 E. B. Craney Non-Commercial Radio Program of the Year, awarded annually by the Montana Broadcasters Association: in 2025, Hitting the Southeast Montana Burger Trail – Miles City, Terry and Forsyth For Deliciousness and Community and in 2022, Farm to School Park County Farm Fresh Fridays. Flavors was also a nominee for the 2022 International Association of Culinary Professionals Media Awards for Radio Show.
In 2021, the program Yellowstone Valley Food Hub—Feeding the Local Community from the Dirt was a finalist for the Non-Commercial Radio Program of the Year award, and in 2023, MontAsia – A New Chapter for Flavor in Fishtail came in second for Non-Commercial Radio Program of the Year.
